Start in Uppingham and turn onto the B664 Stockerston Road
Watch the first mile out of town as there are a few corners that tighten up unexpectantly and often a lot of mud on the road from farms.
Then you hit a superb view over the valley and a 180 degree hairpin. Down the hill and watch out for the bridge (single file traffic). Lovely tight bends through Stockerston and then you climb up the hill and enjoy a few more sweeping bends.( you can do a minor detour left to Neville Holt - a private country house with more breathtaking views) At the top of the hill enjoy the views before a fast straight with dips into Medbourne (nice food at the Neville Arms). Out of Medbourne over one fast humpback bridge (you could get airbourne here) but then another harsh one where you dont want to!. A tight bend and then sweeping roads (look out for hidden dip) into Weston by Welland. Climb the hill into Sutton Basset and then a nice chicane onto a long fast straight up to the A427. Now you can either turn round and do it again or turn left and head for Corby and take the A6003 back to Uppingham. So much choice! So little time! Enjoy
This section starts off open and quite straight, then becomes twistier on the way into Melton. Some poor visibility due to hedgerows so be aware of hazards.
Not really a route in itself but worth building in to a longer run, maybe as an alternative to the A1.The road starts just north of the roundabout at colsterworth and finishes at the A17.There are a couple of other interesting roads (one of which is a corker !) which can be joined at the only roundabout, near Grantham . The best bit is the section just after the A1 turn off which has some highly entertaining dips and bends down to the railway bridge and then a long , twisty climb up to the roundabout. You join the A52 here for a short way and then left for the rest of the route which is a Roman road and very straight and fast with only the village of Ancaster to negotiate. Never seems to be very busy and appears to be relatively undiscovered by bikers. As an alternative you can follow the B 1176 south of the roundabout if you fancy a real challenge or keep on the A52 for a fast open sweeping road all the way to Boston.
A great variety on this stretch with some lovely testing sections. Nice bends and rare police presence (except in the villages). The stretch after the A47 is probably the best bit with a string of fantastic bends and a very naughty left hander! Enjoy
A good selection of tight and fast corners, through some relaxing surroundings. There are some villages en route, and be aware that there may be increased police presence after UK magazine RiDE recommended this route as one of it's favourites. Tuesday nights a popular night for a biker meet on this route.
