The route leaves Bolzano via a short gorge then shortly after begins a climb up through skiing areas with som e excellent bends. In Canazei the route takes a left turn at a roundabout to take the described route but you can also go straight on. The described route from here on takes yu through some fantastic scenery, climbs and descents with lots of twists including hairpins and steep slopes. There are several viewing points and cafes which afford splendid views of the mountains. Beware snow from September through to May.
This route connects Landeck in Austria to Bolzano in Italy missing out the motorway via Innsbruck and putting some very interesting climbs, descents, views and a number of straight bits. The bit from Merano to Bolzano is particularly good.
A mixture of very twisty moutain roads and valley bottom roads with fast, flowing bends with a link back to Kranjska on a nice wide road for the most part with some poor surfaces. There are fantastic views of the Juliana Alps for much of the route. Fuel and cafes are available in the towns and villages. It is an all day ride but well worth doing.
