day 5
An enthralling road where the twists and challenges never seem to end.
Really enjoyed this forest road. Lovely selection of curves.
Amazing, I love this part of California, massive forests, mountain scenery and fantastic curve combinations. Biking heaven
Amazing back road ride into six rivers national forest.
I discovered this road this summer nearly by accident. We were attempting to keep some altitude and stay out of the heat of the upper San Joaquin Valley and spotted this obscure road on Google maps. What a pleasant surprise! This might better be described as one of Americans \"lost highway\" but it's not really a highway. Leaving Macleod you are treated to some distant views of Mt Shasta. Most of this road traverses US Forest land with some open grazing so be on the look out for cows on or just off the road in some areas. Continuing on you are soon in the pines and the temp drops nicely until it connects to Hwy 89. Maybe the best part is if you see another car/truck or motorcyclist that will be one more than we saw. A real treat of a road in the heat of summer and it's all yours.
Gorgeous countryside - farms and valleys to scrub forests and lakes. Great for cruising.
This is an excellent all day ride with several optional routes to extend or shorten the ride. There are some sections that have more traffic than others, however most of this run is carless. A lot of the road has no line down down the middle, so anything goes, but be careful. Some rich kids that grew up around here believe they own the road... and they drive pretty large diesel pick-ups. Once you get way out toward the coast, the traffic virtually disappears and you're all along. Try to make it to the Yellow Rose in Petrolia for lunch. Redway/Garberville has pretty good food: The Lost French Man in Redway; Humboldt Bar & Grill in Garberville or Cecil's in Garberville for dinner. You won't be disappointed and this will be one of your life's most memorable days. Doing the entire loop and winding up where you started is also a pretty fun option.
Nice fastish road with good turns.
Enjoyable little country road.
Fantastic fun, if a little hazardous on this road.
Nice road.
Really nice and twisty southbound alternative to I-5
Incredibly twisty, seemingly endless fun
Some nice corners, nice ride down to the coast
Simply fantastic northbound curvy interstate alternative, starts off very twisty with some fantastic views of Lake Tahoe, then straightens up as you get further north.
Really excellent road with fantastic nature and corners.
Narrow and a bit rough in places but very scenic and calm.
Pleasant little excursion
Some nice little corners dotted between some straights for a quick blast
Looking for a nice road east from the pacific, this could be for you. Great countryside, nice selection of corners that make it easy to forget the stresses of the day, enjoy.
Fantastic twisting little country road this one
This a great motorcyclists alternative to interstate 5 for those going north or south. Highly recommend
Nice easterly route through the forest
Leave interstate 5 at Weed Airport and head west to this great and deserted little road. It's a lot of fun
